trying to find Lori Hokanson, was married to (I think)Chuck Hokanson. They have a daughter named Caroline who would be about 23 years old. I have a picture of Lori and Caroline along with Lori's mother. Both Mother and daughter have a space between the front teeth. Caroline is quite young in the picture. Lori's father live perhaps in Alabama. We were neighbors in Pearland Texas. Chuck Hokanson's mom was active in politics. I went to Pearland and looked for Lori one time. I don't know her maiden name. I found a family of Hokanson's in Pearland proper but they said they were not related. This was perhaps 12 years ago.

I was reading your comments about William Bean possibly having another wife and there being an Indian attack etc., I am wondering if you have the Bean Family History, Bible and so forth sent in by Mrs. T.C. McCallie to the DAR? In it she sates that "On July 1, 1776, a memorable Indian attack numbered about 600 people. Although she had been forwarned, Mrs. Bean (Lydia Russell) had failed to go to the Fort so she was captured by the Indians under Old Abraham. The Indians on retreating carried Mrs. Bean with them to their camp at Nolichucky River." etc. , etc, . She was saved by a Nancy Ward, an Indian maiden of great influence.
I have a copy of this document and find it very interesting. Have you seen it?

I live in Mooreville, Mississippi right on the line of Lee and Itawamba Counties. I am the great granddaughter of James E. Sheffield and Ella Sims. Ella was Paw Sheffield's second wife. He married Ella's sister first (I don't know her name, but I could find out). She had Aunt Maggie (Mary Magdalene Sheffield Martin) and died. My G G Grandmother Sims had just had a baby so she took Aunt Maggie to nurse after her daughter died. Some time later Paw married Ella and they had other children including my grandmother Sarah Elizabeth Sheffield Franks. James and Ella's youngest daughter Ethel Sheffield Cayson is still living, almost 100 years old.

Found your interesting site through Family Tree Maker online report. My great-great-great grandmother, Sarah W. GILLIAM, moved to Arkansas after her husband, Martin Pettus died. Arkansas is where other ancestors met, served in Mexican War and came out here to California for gold. Sarah's father was Allen Gilliam, son of James, b. 1736. Was his father your John Gilliam? Are those descendents still in Arkansas? Thanks!

I'm doing research on our family tree, specifically our Cherokee heritage, and I am using the story of Nancy Ward saving Mrs. William Bean when she was to be burned at the stake. This took place after an attack by the Cherokees at the Holston and Watauga Valleys in 1776. Nancy took her to live with her while her wounds healed, and Mrs. Bean taught Nancy about weaving and raising dairy cows. I just wondered if you were related to this Mrs. Bean and if you knew her maiden name. Thanks for any help you can give me. Leigh Ann

I came across your information as I searched for my great-great grandmother, Sarah Elizabeth Warren's family. She married Robert Watson in 1868 Claiborne Parish, Louisiana. My grandfather, John William Watson was born there in Claiborne parish; he married Mary Magdelene Hunter in Hunt county, Texas. The 1900 Texas census for Hunt county shows John's family on one farm and next to them was Robert Watson and Sarah Elizabeth (John's parents). On the other side was Robert and Sarah's daughter Nancy. I apoligize for all the detail to get to the point that in the 1900 Texas census, Sarah is listed as born in Mississippi, her father born in Mississipi and mother as well. I noticed your information has Reuben Warren born in Kentucky and Sarah in Alabama. I would appreciate knowing what your source was for that information...if I have any information that you would like to have, I would be more than happy to give it to you...thank you for your time...regards, Kathy

My husband's great grandmother was Mary Ann Crow, wife of Harvie Rogers. Mary Ann Crow was Indian. Her father is believed to be Thomas Crow, who was 1/2 Cherokee and married to full blood Cherokee, Elizabeth Logan. Elizabeth Logan, b. in 1820 in SC, m. Thomas Crow in Union Co., Ga in 1837. Then they moved to Murray Co, Ga, then to Marion Co, Tn for the remainder of their lives. Mary Ann Crow and Harvie Rogers moved to Texas and are buried at the Alameda Cemetery near Ranger, Tx. They were pioneers of Eastland County, Tx. I believe this may be the same Crow family as yours. Your wondering about any Indian connection prompted me to write. Family members are still living who remember Mary Ann Crow, and say she not only told the family she was Indian, she looked Indian.

I have Bean ancestors and was wondering if you know if they tie up to your William Bean. Here is the information: 1850 census Cherokee County, N.C. George M. Beane (Bean) age 33 b. Tn. Amanda P;, age 29 B. N.C. James T., age 2 b. N.C., Mary C., age 6 months
So George is born in l817 in Tennesee. His middle name is Milden and Amanda P., his wife, is Amanda Priscilla Brittain. My line is through James T. ,my great-great grandfather. The family moves to Rhea County, Tn., and George dies on August 12, l862 and is buried in Rhea County in Bean Cemetery. According to local residents they are living on land by the Bean cemetery which is located on the edge of Rhea and Roan County. Other people who lived on this land are a Jesse, William, and James. George's children beside James and Mary are Marcus, William, Robert and George. I have heard that this family is in the William Bean, Pioneer of Tennessee book, but I can't get a hold of a copy of it. They are listed in this book in the l850 Roan Co., Tn census, but the date I think should be l860 because of the ages of the people match up ten years later. Maybe this is a typo. Anyway any help you can give me would be appreciated. Thank You, Donna

Re: info on Solomon Trucks near bottom of genealogy at http://www.pearland.com/hokanson/trux.htm
Where did you get the date of death of Solomon Trucks at? There has been some confusion by other researchers that has made him into a Tate. From what I can determine by research and from info provided by a Trucks-Fulton researcher, Solomon Trucks married Rebecca Fulton in Bibb Co AL on 5 Aug 1848. In the 1850 census they are found without children. Apparently a daughter Mary was born shortly after that census. Solomon seems have died before 1858 and without fathering any additional children. His widow married James Marion Tate about 1858 and in 1860 they are found in Bibb County with daughters Mary (10) and Eugenia (1). James is 23 and Rebecca is 31. Mary cannot be James' daughter since he was listed as Marion at age 14 in his father James Tate's household in 1850. James and Rebecca apparently had another child about 1863. James joined Co. B, 44th AL Infantry at age 24, was hospitalized several times, then is listed as missing/deserted in 1864. In 1870 Rebecca Tate is listed in Bibb Co AL as a widow living only with son James, then age 7. According to Barbara Pike, in 1880 Rebecca is living with her sister Sarah Lovelady in Perry County AL. Did Solomon die earlier than you have listed, or did he divorce Rebecca or move on and marry someone else?

I am a grand-daughter of Hascue/Heskew G. Gilliam. He was born in Scott county, Va on 12-14-1883. I am looking for anyone having any information on this line. I am pulling my hair out trying to link us with any of the other Gilliam's I have found in Va,Ky.Penn,N.C., S.C., etc. My grandfathter had a brother named Monroe, a brother named John, and a sister named Ollie. Somewhere I am thinking that Aunt Ollie married a SWEARINGEN/SWEARINGIN?????? Just an old story I remember about My great aunt Ollie "this one", visiting my grandfather Hascue/Heskew in Kentucky when his daughter "my other aunt", was born and he named her Ollie also....Hascue/Heskew's parents were "supposedly" John or Bill Gilliam and his wife Rhoda/Roda????? An information would be greatly appreciated and there is also another whole line "mine and my family" of Gilliam's if anyone is interested. THere were 10 of us and all of us have children, so this is a pretty big line also. My grandfather was married the first time to "Martha Hester Brandenburg", from Owsley county, ky. and a second time to Lulu Underwood. He had children by both women and I have these lines also. Hello, I was hoping someone might be able to help in my search. I am looking for information on Lydia Russell Bean, wife of the famous first Tennessee settler. I am trying to follow an idea I have. I am a Russell descendent, but I can take my family back no further than 1782, with Elijah Russell. He was born in North Carolina, but possibly in the area that later became Tennessee. He was in this area about the same time as Lydia's family and I am wondering if they are related somehow. If anyone has any information on Lydia's family it would be greatly appreciated, and I would be happy to share any information I have collected. Thanks

I was able to get a picture of his mother but not of Samuel Jackson Beene.

I am the gggrand-daughter of Sanders Marion Norwood whom I believe may be the son of John P Norwood. S. M. was born in McNairy Co, TN Dec 9,1831. His family bible lists "John Norwood Sr, d. Nov 14,1845" and "Mary S. Norwood d. Apr 3, 1845" immediately following the dates of death of his in-laws who, coincidentally, are William and Jane Peak (Peek). Wm Peak was born about 1814 VA and died June 25, 1861 TN (Shelby Co).
Sanders Marion (age 18) was in the home of Giles McBride in the 1850 Lauderdale Co census along with his brother James F. This, of course, lends credence to the relationship since Giles administered John P.'s estate. Additional evidence is that when S. M.'s infant son died in 1866 the Memphis paper copied the Florence, AL and the Murfreesboro, TN newspapers on the obit.
I also believe S. M. may have had another brother named Nathaniel. A Nathaniel Norwood (age 23) born TN was in the 1850 McNairy Co census. He was in the Hardin Co 1860 census.
Sanders Marion moved to Shelby Co, TN in 1853 and married Mary Jane Peak May 7, 1857. He died Mar 13, 1918.

Well I could cry, I just put in all this info and hit a button and lost it! anyway here we go again....Dad's dad was James Hansford Bean; I think he was born in Booneville b. 1919 but he d.1975 in California. Now, James Mack Bean was his father and He was married twice that I know of. First me married Sarah J.(McCoy) She is burried in the Cauthron Cemetery in Booneville b.1865 d. 1904. Their children were: William L. (Billow), Claud E., Rupert E. b.1894 (I think he went by Dewey)I have his d. date somewhere but can't seem to locate it at the moment if I remember correctly he died right after the war started around the age of 20. Dad said he heard that he fell off a flat car on a train. Then there was George b. 1898, Paul E. Beane(burried in Cauthron Cem.)1901-1965 he married Lilian F.unknown, Joella D (she has a large headstone but it is nearly impossible to read, doesn't appear she was very old. then there are two infant sons also burried with them, one in 1886 the other in 1888. After Sarah died James Mack remarried to Etta Lee (dad says White/Frailey) but I don't know if he was just told this by another person or if he knows it. She too is burried in the Cauthron Cem. b.1885 d. 1972. Their children were: James Hansford(My grandfather), Charles Van Bean b.1924 d.1998 (he went by Jake)Wayne(who I think went by Weenie), Mack who I think went by JR, Maurice who died a few years back in Texas(He went by Yock) Wanda(some say went by sister), Hazel(nickname?Lovie), Vivian(nickname ?Bid or Took)I believe she too is burried in Cauthron Cem. under name Taylor(Vivian Bean)b.1914. I had more death dates but can't find them all. Dad said he found James Mack on 1910 Scott County Census under James M.Bean there is also a John Bean on it but I only have the index so I don't know if they are related. Crazy mixed up family isn't it!The county is now Logan and I think when it began it was something like Sabin or Saben Co. ( read it last night but it's all starting to run together if you know what I mean) anyway, If you know anything contact me at book70@cei.net. thanks C.E. Bean

Very much enjoyed your site. I have some info on the Livingston Family from Germany. Briefly as possible. We descend from Hans Andreas Liebenstein of Duehren,Heidelberg, Germany. Johann Bernhardt Liebenstein and his brother Hans Martin came to Landcaster County Pa in 1727 on the William & Sarah. He had several children baptised in the Muddy Creek Lutheran Church. The suranme is shown as Loewenstein, but it is Liebenstein(both mean Love Stone in German. One son is listed as Johann or John born 1733. They move later to Frederick Co. MD around 1739-1740. Name is Americanized to Leviston, Levingston, Livingston. They move to Newberry, SC around 1750. I descend from John Livingston. If I can offer any other info--E-mail at the above address. Liebenstein's came from Switzerland to Germany in the 1600's from a small town near Zurich called Albisrieden. Hans Andreas Father was Gregorius. You will find Your Mollie Livingston listed at the above web site.

Hello! What interesting pages you have, and what a wonderful job you are doing with your family! I am in search of a brother and sister, they are Robert J.BANES(baines, baynes, bains)who was supposedly born in Alabama in 1853-4 and his sister Caroline BANES(baines, baynes, bains)who was born in 1845 also in Alabama. On a 1880 Lafayette County Mississippi census,Robert and his widowed sister Caroline Banes LUTHER were living in that county and Caroline had 6 children under the age of 13. The youngest being my husbands grandfather and it noted he was 3 years old. I also found that Robert married a Sallie Martin from lafayette county mississippi and that Caroline had been married to a Tyrus or a Gothrey Luther. Later on in 1883 she supposedly married a Robinson and I haven't been able to trace either one of these Banes again. If anyone has any clues or information on these two siblings please send a e-mail. I have been searching 6 years fro proof. Thank You

Interesting on Liebenstein -Livingston connection. Here is a site that shows what I have found. It shows this family as Loewensteins , but ship records and other info indicates they were Liebenstein's. Though both were used until the American change to Livingston late 1740's. I have this family back to Duehren, Germany and before in Albisrieden, Zurich, Switzerland in the 1500's. Contact me if interested. Glenn at g428lumber@comcast.net

I read your Wynn, Beene information. I'm sure we fit in somewhere. Here is what I have. John Wynne b GA?? Oct. 9, 1800 md Peggy Kennedy b. 1808 TN. She may have been born earlier and md to Daniel Kennedy first?? They md Wilson Co., TN April 23, 1823.
His third son Thomas Wynn b. 12/20/1826/7 md Rebecca Cowan b. Ky 6/4/1826 md 11/30/1849. Both Thomas and Rebecca and kid Andrew Jackson "Peter" Wynn who md Maggie Hess and his grandson William Lawrence Wynn who md Ethel Mae Bean are in Shipp graveyard at Big Coon, Stevenson, AL. Are they related to the Thomas who died of rabies??? of the John you have??
My Thomas's first two kids were b. in TN so he moved to AL about last of 1852 or first part of 1853.
Notes on John says he was bur in limestone tomb nestled between 2 mtns in Kings Cove. I think that is in AL.
Any connection??
The oldest Bean I have is James Madison Bean.

Diana, if you will email me, I can assist you on your William Wynne's lineage. I believe his parents were Joshua Wynne b. Charles City Co, VA and Mary Jones. Joshua was the son of Capt Thomas Wynne b. Charles City Co, VA and Agnes Stith. Capt Wynne's father was Col. Robert Wynne b. Canterbury, Kent Co, England and d. 8/16/1678 Jordan's Parish, VA (later Prince George Co, VA) and his wife was Mrs Mary (maiden name is of great debate...possibly Sloman) Poythress (the Col was her 2nd husband). Col Robert Wynne's was Speaker of the VA House of Burgess 1661-1674 and his parents were Peter Wynne b. Kent Co, England & Martha Coppin. There are two more generations, beyond Peter.
I descend from Capt Thomas Wynne & Agnes Stith's daughter, Mary Wynne. While I do not have the "Original" documents, I can provide you with transcribed copies of most of the Wills of the early ancestors.
Also, have you considered that your Trux (hope I spelled that right...going by memory of your surname list) line might be Truax? Phillipe du Trieux/Truax's line starts in the New Amsterdam Colony and moves through NY, NJ and DE. This line goes back to 1588. I have nothing on the siblings families beyond early 1700's or so, as I have only concentrated on my direct line since this is an allied family of my primary line, but do have several links to websites, including a du Trieux Assn site, if you want to look at it to see if your surname may have been "Truax".
Look forward to hearing from you. Faye

You have information on Stephen Peek, son of Wm and Isabella Peek. I know that this family moved to Hart County, GA and that Wm died and was buried there, correct?
I descend from Stephen Peek and Elizabeth Smith. http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=SRCH&db=feorag&surname=A That is my rootsweb database.
Please look at Stephen Peek and Elizabeth Smith. My grandfather remembers that his grandmothers family lived in Hartwell, Hart County GA. He never met any of them however. They grew up in Athens and Winder.
I believe our Stephen is one and the same. I have since found some more siblings families who say that Elizabeth's daughters were approached about land and wills in Hart County later in life, but that they never took anything and there were brothers that must have gained it. We have no record of anything other than the women.
Just wondering what you think.
