Son of Obediah Franklin Beene and Mary Elizabeth "Mollie" Livingston(e)

As Obe was preparing to leave for the Civil War, he held his young son, Russell in his arms.  He told his wife that he had a feeling he wasn't ever going to see him again.  He didn't.  Obe returned from the war, but his son died only months after he joined the 32nd MS Infantry Regiment.   Russell O. Beene (the marker has Russel with one L) was buried in the Kirkville Memorial Cemetery in Itawamba County, MS.   Some Yeagers are also buried there and may be relatives of his mother, Mary Elizabeth "Mollie" Livingston(e) whose mother was Ann L. Yeager.  The birth date on the marker is unreadable, but the death date is July 07, 1862.  The carving at the top of the marker is a lamb.  We did not find the burial place for Russell's sister Sarah Anna "Sallie" who died at about the age of 12 years old in 1880, four years before the family moved to Freestone County, Texas.
