William Sylvester "Bet" Sheffield b: Abt 1848 Itawamba Co, MS d: March 16, 1926 Itawamba Co, MS

William Sylvester "Bet" Sheffield is the son of Sarah Sheffield. He was known as "Bet" and was elected sheriff of Itawamba County for 3 terms before 1875. He served in the Civil War, although he was too young to fight. He was a member of the Mississippi Legislature in the House of Representatives.
