John Been b: Between 1728-1740

John Been b: Between 1728-1740 is believed to be the brother of William Bean b: 1721. He appears in the book, The History of Pittsylvania County, by Maud Carter Clement, in the "First List of Tithables of Pittsylvania County, Virginia, Year 1767; List of Tithables Taken by Peter Perkins for the year 1767," as "John Been, Jun," "William Bean, son Wm., land," also appears, apparently referring to the person we know as William Bean, the Pioneer of Tennessee and his son, William. Use of the term "Junior" with the name John Been does not necessarily indicate John, son of John, as we usually use it today. It can just mean that there is an older John Been in the community, related or not, and the term "Junior" would then simply indicate that this was a younger John Been. The John Been on this list of tithables is probably the brother of William Bean, the pioneer.

However, all the documentation refers to the wife of Jesse Bean as Mary or "Polly." If Jesse Bean was previously married to an Elizabeth "Betsy," there is no known documentation at this time.
